Imagine we’re in Alcala’ la Real (Jae’n) in 1962.
Manuel, a farmer and muleteer, my father’s close friend, buys a little and lovely Andalusian donkey and he wants to give it
as a gift to his three-years-old son.
Most of us, parents, wants our kids to share the same passions we have. Unfortunately, when it was about Manuel, things didn’t go this way, since his son
didn’t really pay attention to the animals he was so used to from the moment he was born: donkeys, mules.
One day, along with my father, we went to visit Manuel. I was three years old back then. You can’t even imagine how surprised and happy I was to see that
little donkey. Manuel was so amazed by my reaction that finally that day the donkey changed his house. And this is how it became my first donkey!
And now I would like one of my three daughters to follow my project, trying to save the endangered Andalusian donkey.
